I know that working out is hard to do. There are plenty of legitimate excuses:
- It takes too much time
- It’s so expensive
- I don’t see results
- I’m already so overweight, it’ll be painful to try to exercise.
I was there. Five years ago, I was 246 lbs and I said all of those things. And yet, 5 years later, I’m 50 lbs. lighter and I can actually shop for clothes at most stores. So… I’d like to outline three workouts that are free and easy to get you started. Because all you really need to do is to start.
Couch to 5K running program
I know what you’re thinking—I hate running. Why would I do something I hate?
Because it works. That’s why.
Seriously though. The program is easy. There’s walking mix with running. And you can take as long as you need before you move on to the next week. When I started, I repeated each week for 2 weeks. I was slow. I hate my runs. But now… well, I still don’t love them, but I’ll keep doing it.
When I hit the 20 minute run mark, I was proud of myself. I had DONE it. And that success helped me to keep going. I’ve run two 5K and one 10K race. Will I do another one? Maybe. But it was a great place to start. Plus… it was free.
Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred
Someone told me about Biggest Loser. I think I’ve watched 1 season. But Jillian Michaels stood out as a trainer. I discovered this “30 Day Shred” business. I can commit to anything for 30 days. It seemed easy enough. It costed $8 to buy the DVD… the entire workout is on YouTube so it’s free. I started. It sucked. But I kept doing it.
I noticed that I started to get definition near my shoulders and in my arms. My ankles stopped looking like cankles. I’m addicted to Jillian’s workouts. There are a few you can get on YouTube. She also created a 30 Day Slim Down schedule that incorporates her Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism and No More Trouble Zones workouts.
30 Day Butt Lift Workout
Okay. I just discovered this one. But honestly, I love how it works my butt. And it’s only 10 minutes. Okay, towards the end of the month you go to 20-30 minutes, but still, it’s a nice easy workout to tack on. I love Alicia Marie and Courtney. They’re great instructors.
